Weekend Recap

Pink Haired Momma and Hubbs-to-be had a DATE!!!

Woohoo!
And Baby DIVA came along with us.
LOL
Some Date!

We are avid movie watchers and have missed going to the theater since the arrival of Baby DIVA. Recently I found a The Showboat drive-in theater and thought HMMMM how lovely this could be. I posted here on Thoughts of a Princess the Blog by Pink Haired Momma, about this theater a few weeks back because not only is it a cool event to do with kids or that certain special someone, but it is also super CHEAP!!!!

Well, on Saturday, Hubbs-to-be and myself were trying to avoid yet another family get together and decided the safest place for us to hide would be under a blanket of the stars out in the country watching movies in our car. And Baby DIVA has had such a marvelous sleep schedule we assured ourselves a late showing at the drive-in was no problem at all. And that our "Date" would be quite enjoyable.

NOTE TO SELF: NEVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES ASSUME THAT A BABY DIVA WILL CONTINUE HER NORMAL PATTERNS OF HAPPY LIFE WHEN MOM AND DAD HAVE PLANS. EVER!!!!!!

Oh did I mention that it is JUNE in Houston and it is HOT~HOT~HOT!!!

We loaded up our car with the various 15 bags of baby crap. You know the "well she might want to play with this toy" kind of crap you take with you when you go anywhere with an infant. Never mind in her whole life (all 6 months) she has not only never played with this crap but has never even glanced at it at all. We packed a suitcase full of baby DIVA approved snacks and Sippy cup, not BOTTLES-as Baby DIVA has made quite clear are now unacceptable, put it all over ice and headed out.

The car had to do a loop around the neighborhood and come back as the car and baby DIVA took off after being packed for the Drive-in outing without Pink Haired Momma and Hubbs-to-be. Somehow after loading the car up, the car forgot us. Sigh. All those bags of crap one must pack for a simple date. Sigh, again.

Finally we are on the way. We drive out towards the Drive-in and are quite giggly. Kind of like two teenagers on a date. Then we realized, Oh! Wait a minute! We know what happens when two teenagers go to the Drive-in...alone in a car...and she is riding in the back seat.

Another NOTE: BABY DIVA will NOT be heading to the drive-in ALONE with a boy for many moons to come!!! And we might just have to sit really far apart too!!

We arrive promptly 15 minutes before the gates open and assume our position in the line that has already begun to form. We chit chat and sing to baby DIVA as we wait in the lovely air conditioned vessel that has brought us to this great destination. The gates open and we head on in to find a "great" spot to rest our vehicle for the remainder of the evening.

At this point the sun is still beating down on the Drive-in theater parking lot as cars are beginning to file in and line themselves up in theater like rows. We are dazzled by the whole event because not only is this Baby DIVA's first time at a drive-in but Pink Haired Momma's and Hubbs-to-be's as well. AWWWW insert cute moment for happy family here. So we are also quite paparazzi and snapped a ton of pics, even though we are starting to melt in the wonderful evening heat.

Baby DIVA laughing knowingly at what she has in store for Pink Haired Momma and Hubbs-to-be
Cheesy posed pics of Pink Haired Momma and Baby DIVA with really cool old projector

Baby DIVA then announces to the entire theater that she is NOW ready for her dinner. A quick rig of this and that and we have a make shift kitchen and high chair! Dinner is served mademoiselle! Yum Yum!

Well with all this gourmet meal prep at the theater going on Pink Haired Momma and Hubbs-to-be kind of lose sight of time. We are giggling and loving all over Baby DIVA, just like those goofy first time parent stereotypes do.

Yes My name is Pink Haired Momma and I will marry Hubbs-to-be and WE ARE first time GOOFBALL parents. HI Pink Haired Momma and Hubbs-to-be.

We lose track of time and before we know it it is well after 9PM!! and still no movie yet. The sun has done gone and set. The lights have come about. We have melted about 4 pant sizes off our plump booties (well those cheese fries from the concession stand may have added a size back on), and still NO MOVIE!!! UGH! Baby DIVA has a full belly, diaper changed and is snoozed in her seat. We are so ready.

And then the lights DIM and the screen lights up. We giggle again with great anticipation. Sound begins to flow out of our car speakers and the first preview plays across the screen.

AND THEN IT HAPPENS...

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Baby DIVA is AWAKE!

Not only AWAKE but very vocal about needing some attention RIGHT NOW!

Again, did I mention that it is JUNE in Houston and it is HOT~HOT~HOT!!!

We roll up the windows of our car so not to disturb our fellow drive-in neighbors, and because you cant have your engine running during the movie we also have no air conditioner and so we begin to console baby DIVA in the heated late night air of a closed window vehicle. Total Fun!

I swear it is like Baby DIVA has this teeny tiny little built in radar that hones in on our every move. Oh Pink Haired Momma is in the process of sitting down...hold it...hold it...okay she is all the way down WAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Same thing here! Pink Haired Momma and Hubbs-to-be are about to enjoy this movie. I will sleep ALL evening and right as the movie begins WAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

Of course she calms down once she is in Pink Haired Momma's arms, and we both melt because it is so dang hot. Hubb-to-be opens the window and WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Baby DIVA Radar strikes again! Pink Haired rocks the DIVA some more and finally she passes out of heat exhaustion. Just kidding. We opened the windows and she calmed down and finally went on back to sleep. 2 movies and one intermission later my arms felt like Gumby and I placed her in her car seat for the ride home.

She of course slept without a peep from this point on until about 30 seconds after I tucked my bootie into bed after arriving home (another story on another day LOL).

Overall we had a blast at the Drive-in. We plan to go again very soon with our friends of HAM! I mean you really can not beat this kind of Baby DIVA entertainment followed by 2 great movies for less than $20 for the whole night! Totally Fabulous!!

Dream Travel in an RV: Where would you go?

You may have noticed that last Sunday there was no Dream Travel post. Well our virtual RV had some routine maintenance to attend to back in our virtual home town of Houston, Texas. While we attended a few family graduation parties and baby showers over the weekend, our Virtual RV was having all of its bells and whistles checked and polished. Now the RV is reading to Rock and Roll again.

Rolling, Rolling, Rolling!
Pink Haired Momma, Hubbs-to-be and Baby DIVA are back on the virtual open road heading out to discover all the cool off the beaten path places that their virtual RV will take them!! Woohoo!!

And here we go...

This week we are visiting a totally fabulous "green" living subdivision about 13 miles outside of Taos, New Mexico. This Pink Haired Momma has really been engaging herself and her mind in a wealth of information about living more earth conscious and healthy. During these new discoveries I came across this totally fabulous off the grid community. And of course I am virtually dragging the Hubbs-to-be and Baby DIVA along for the ride. they think I am quite looney but sure do love my Pink Haired craziness and will virtually go where not other hubbs-to-be, Baby DIVA and Pink Haired Momma have gone before, just to make me happy! Gotta love my family!

The fabulous community/subdivision is known at the Greater World. It is completely self sustainable. Not only is this community off the grid, and by this I mean no water lines, no sewer lines, no electrical lines, and no gas lines, but the total green homes are absolutely beautiful. In more ways than one. Beautiful for the environment and beautiful for the eyes to see!

The homes that are part of this community are commonly known as Earthships. What is an Earthship? An earthship, as I understand it, is a structure made of natural and recycled product that relies on solar energies to function. Totally awesome if you ask me. The Earthships in this area are literally designed and made from tires, aluminum cans and soil. Fantabulous guys! Simply Fantabulous! Environmentally friendly and gorgeous!

Check out the views of the patio and kitchen of one Earthships!

This is such a wonderful concept. Living green in a modern passionate way while preserving the earth but still providing beauty to the beholder of each home. It is the best of both worlds. I love it!

Now of course rolling into this wonderful town in a fabulous gas guzzling virtual RV is just too dang tacky. So we virtually parked down the street out of the way and rode our bikes into town!

My personal thoughts on Pull Over DIVA response

Although the response is welcomed and I am happy that my voice was in fact heard, I feel it does not get me any further to an answer to my concerns. The problem is still apparent. I do not want to purposely anger the police officer if I take my time in exiting the freeway to protect my child which can result in the officers discretion as to how to handle me. I have seen far to many incidences where an officers "discretion" was used and such discretion was used to taser a traffic stop citizen or arrest them for an unjust reason (usually later deemed unjust by the court system). I also have taken a slight defense to the "follow all the traffic laws" statement in this email. I find that this is implying that I the Pink Haired Momma would be "guilty" of the offense if a police officer has pulled me over. However it is my understanding that I have the right as a citizen to go through the legal system and appear before a judge and my peers before the guilt is associated with me, if in fact I am truly guilty of said citation. I also would like to note that an officer is human and can make issue citations when no citations would be necessary, again to be decided in a court of law. Just my thoughts in response to this email.

Response to Pull Over Baby DIVA

A few days ago I posted a concerning question that I posed to various transportation agencies around Texas regarding the safety of my child during a traffic stop by police. I promised you, the reader, I would update you as responses were received and given to me the Pink Haired Momma. I received the first response yesterday from the Texas Department of Transportation. Although the response is welcomed and I am happy that my voice was in fact heard, I feel it does not get me any further to an answer to my concerns. I would like to hear what your thoughts are on this concern as well as the response I received from the Texas Department of Transportation. As to not taint your own individual thoughts I will wait and post my personal response at a later time.

Here is a copy of email received:

Ms. (Pink Haired Momma),
There are no state statutes that cover the scenario you provided. When stopped by an emergency vehicle, drivers are required to pull to the right and stop. Common sense yields that the location of the stop should be in a safe area. Many agencies conduct traffic stops on freeways on the shoulder. However, I’m sure those officers would prefer to be in a safer location during the stop. As long as the nearest exit is used and you make your intentions to the officer as clear as possible as you’ve suggested, I believe you will be ok. It is up to the discretion of each officer to decide if the driver is attempting to evade arrest or attempting to find a safe place to stop.

Another suggestion would be to obey all of the traffic laws and, therefore, never provide an opportunity to placed in this situation.

I wish you safe travels for you and your child.

Pull Over Baby DIVA?

Recently I was driving along the freeway when My Pink Haired brain poofed an incredible thought. “What if I get pulled over by a cop while Baby DIVA is in the car?” I do not feel comfortable pulling off to the side of the freeway and parking. There are too many crazy not attention paying freaks who won’t put down their blackberry and are trying to twitter about the traffic that they just might slam in to my car and injure my child.

NO THANK YOU!!!

Recently here In Houston we have experienced a horrible accident on the freeway system that not only took the life of 2 individuals it also injured a police officer. What you ask happened? Well the deceased individuals had their cars parked on the shoulder as well as the officer who was injured. Another car did in fact slam in to them and it resulted in a catastrophic nightmare. These kinds of accidents, although they seem rare, do happen. I am not willing to take any chance with my daughter’s life. Shouldn't’t a citizen be able to take a few extra moments to remove themselves from harm’s way?

I went to my parents, who lucky for me, just happen to be traffic attorney's, and asked them about this situation. I questioned them with the following: I am concerned that if I am being pulled over by a police officer on the freeway and I turn on my flashers and carefully and safely try and exit the freeway and proceed to a safe out of danger place to pull my car over, that I am in turn just going to anger the police officer to the point where he gives further citations. Is there a proper protocol for this matter and if so how do I handle this scenario? How do I properly alert the officer that I am going to comply with his request to pull over, however I am choosing to do so in a safe manner to protect the safety of my child who is in the car?

You may think that a police officer would not be angered by such scenario; I assure you that you are wrong. If a police officer has to follow you for unknown reasons he or she is most likely not going to be happy. And who could blame him? If the officer has no idea what is going on in your vehicle, he has only been trained to expect the worst.

Mom and Pop alerted me to that fact that we do not have a protocol for such scenario. In fact there are not any laws or legislation in regards to the safety of the passengers in the car or how to exit properly if you have an infant or children in the car. There is just a law or understanding that you pull over to the right side as quickly and safely as possible.

HMMMM! Interesting! I pondered this for a moment.

Then I decided to take it upon myself to contact my state representatives, John Coryn and Kay Bailey Hutchison, the Houston Police Chief, and the Texas Department of Public Safety in regards to this matter. I am curious if this has ever been addressed. I am also hoping that by raising and proposing this question officers can be alerted to this concern parents may have about being pulled over for citations while driving on the freeway system.

I propose that officers be aware that cars that carry a “Baby on Board” sticker may need to take a few extra moments in getting off the freeway before the citation process begins. By simply switching the flasher lights on coupled with the “Baby on Board” sign should generate enough warning to the officer that a citizen is in fact following the requested act that the area of concern should be diminished. I hope that open communication on this matter between the local police and the citizens can draw a conclusion that the child’s safety is of concern and we can work together to try and do what we can to prevent as many tragedies as possible.

I am currently waiting on response from the State Representatives, Houston Police Chief and the Texas Department of Public Safety. I will update you to their responses upon receipt.

What are you thoughts on this matter?

Not your ordinary Tree house

I was sitting my plump butt on the couch while Baby DIVA was taking a bit of a snooze and I was thoroughly enjoying and episode of Extreme Living on HGTV. And then it happened!

The TV spoke to me! Yep I am officially crazy!

Now what really happened is Extreme Living was highlighting a very interesting style of living and I just tuned right in. The topic really hit a nerve in me! TREE HOUSE LIVING! How fabulous and funky. I was immediately drawn in. I already could see my super cool hot pink couch resting gracefully atop the trees! Then as quick as possible my Pink Haired Momma fingers opened the laptop and began to research the topic presented in this lovely show.

As many of you may know I am becoming more and more earth conscious every day. With the birth of Baby DIVA, I have really embarked on learning more and more about how to preserve the earth so that she may have a home for her whole lifetime! I also just enjoy the green lifestyle. Fits me well.

So what the heck was it that caught my eye and struck such a nerve in my Pink Haired Momma mind? Well it is a Fab Tree Hab. What is a Fab Tree Hab you ask? Well this is a really exciting new development in the style of living world. A young architect has envisioned a remarkable form of living that embodies the green lifestyle by manipulating the natural earth in a friendly manner as to not cause harm and results in the development of a new housing option for human kind. This wonderful vision does require a long period of development, however the living home continues to grow with the family that resides inside over a lifetime.
A view of the Fab Tree Hab vision: outer shell
Another view of the Fab Tree Hab vision: inside
I am just so jazzed up about this possibility. I am trying to find out everything I can about this project. I just wanted to share this wonderful development with you as well! Imagine in the future all of us living in these super fabulous GREEN TREE HOUSES!!! Totally RAD!

Disney for Free

Baby DIVA is being brought up in a dual language family. Not only am I hoping that she grasps English and Spanish as native tongue but I also have high hopes she learns a third or more languages of her choosing as she gets older. While browsing through some of my favorite Houston outing hot spots today I cam across and totally fabulous adventure that seems to highlight my passion for Baby DIVA and my hopes for her and her multi-language quest in life.

Miller Outdoor Theatre, right here in our fabulous city of Houston is hosting a beautiful interpretation of Disney's Aladdin in dual languages on June 9-11 at 11:00am. Now this is not just a "dual" translated interpretation. The plot revolves around multiple languages. It seems that Aladdin and all the townspeople speak English while Jasmine only speaks Spanish. Jafar however has the ability to understand and speak both English and Spanish. This interpretation enables the viewer to be immersed in multiple languages in a familiar scenario and I think it is lovely!!
Produced by Theatre Under the Stars, TUTS Humphrey's School.

And there is no charge for Children's performances at the Miller Outdoor theater! Fabulous! We are going to try and make it out and watch. You should too!!!

Tuesday Tidbit

Well if you read my previous post you know that this weekend I spent a good amount of time dancing in the kitchen in front of the blender and oven making and shaking and a blending for my Baby DIVA. This exciting kitchen adventure plus the fact that Baby DIVA has been squawking like crazy the last few weeks because of her newly found teeth, brought me to a wonderful recipe for simple homemade teething biscuits. On this fabulous Tuesday I really want to share with you this incredibly bland but yum in the tum for the babe recipe for teething biscuits. Baby DIVA enjoyed them and is very fond of being able to stick them in her mouth by herself and chew with her 1 half a tooth!

Ingredients:
1 cup flour
1 cup dry infant rice cereal
3 tablespoons cooking oil
ice water

Directions: Preheat oven 425F Mix flour and cereal. Gradually stir in oil. Mix a little ice water at a time (start with 1/4 cup) until dough begins to form a ball and pull away from the bowl. Roll out to the thickness of a cracker on a floured surface and cut into desired shapes. Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet 10-12 min. or until lightly brown. Cool completely. Store in an airtight container.

And where did I find this fabulous recipe (because you know this Pink Haired Momma is not homemaker enough to come up with it on her own...yet)? My totally favorite baby food site. Click HERE to rummage through this RAD site.

Pink Haired Momma aka Homemaker

Many months ago you listened as I babbled about my precious baby seeds and how I ever so delicately placed them in their nutrient rich soil to grow and produce food for me, Hubbs-to-be and Baby DIVA. Well this wonderful adventure into being a self producing Pink Haired Momma vegetable growing woman who wears crazy hats over her Pink Hair in the garden has officially begun.
The ever so small glimpse of my future...

I do have high hopes for the next attempts of my garden growth! I am quite tickled that I put a seed in some dirt and a carrot came out. Even if it is so tiny!!!

I also was quite the Betty Homemaker in the kitchen this weekend. I whipped up a fabulous assortment of my fancified blended technique foods for Baby DIVA! The freezer is now packed up with all sorts of delicious baby friendly edibles prepared with the fabulous homemade seasons conjured up by Pink Haired Momma...aka no seasoning whatsoever. Totally chic. You should try it sometime. I also discovered that there are no suitable teething biscuits that are pre made. So I go to whipping and a shaking and baking (mental image...Pink Haired Momma boogie moves in front of the oven, Scary). I made no corn, no sugar, no anything yum, teething biscuits for the DIVA. She took to them with the quickness. I ate one. Nuff said.

Bye Bye Bottle

At the ripe old age of 6 months my daughter, Miss Baby DIVA is quite the independent one. I of course have no idea where she got this characteristic from. I mean Hubbs-to-be and myself have never shown any characteristic of independence!! LOL

Anyway so here at 6 months darling Baby DIVA will no longer accept a bottle. She will push it away with great force when offered. We are solely on the Sippy cup and she holds it and administers her nutritious liquid meals all by herself!!

So exciting but also so sad!
Baby DIVA is growing so FAST!!!!!!

Laughing at Life

A wonderful member of my favorite group of ladies HAM posted this hilarious video for everyone to get a chuckle at.
I pissed myself laughing.
Hubbs-to-be said if Baby DIVA ever behaves like this he will move out to his own apartment!
So to jump start this week I want to share with you this insane video from my friend at HAM!!!
Happy Monday! ENJOY!!

Not Your Ordinary Baby Shower

Yesterday, this Pink Haired Momma attended a baby shower of a wonderful family friend. This shower however was not your ordinary baby shower. For example this is a snapshot of the front cover of the Thank You Card from the Mom-to-be...

And this is a the area where the guests and Mom-to-be spent all their time

Why do you ask were all the guests and Mom-to-be getting hammered at a BABY SHOWER?
Well again this was not your ordinary shower. The mom-to-be is not in fact pregnant. Her bouncy baby boy is resting and growing comfortably inside his rent a womb surrogate mom. So now you see why all the guests had to be hammered! Rent a womb momma was at the shower too with her mother. Talk about some weirdness is this party room!!!

It is so awesome that our family friend is receiving this gift of life from her chosen rent a womb. However it was very bizarre and strange to bear witness to. The rent a womb momma was there at the shower with the babe in womb of course. She was quite nice but this addition to the shower had many many strange emotions bouncing about in all those who surrounded her. For instance, I really wanted to congratulate our family friend, but do I also congratulate this rent a womb momma as well? I mean she is a swollen and miserable; we all know what we it feels like to be 35 weeks pregnant and it ain't fun. But truly she really is just the rent a womb. She was no genetic contribution to this baby at all. She has no emotional connection to anyone other than the new parents to be either. This really was just baffling to me and confusing and made me somewhat uncomfortable. Again I express I am so grateful and excited that my family friend is able to have a child, however I still am unsure on my thoughts and emotions of this possibility.

Surrogacy is an awesome medical technique that we have in this world that can provide a reproductively challenged pair of parents with the ability to pass on their unique genetic make-up to a new life and raise a baby that is in fact "their" own genetic make-up. This is wonderful in some respects and just plain weird in others.
For instance, the emotional side renders weirdness. As a recent momma I do not understand how a woman can carry a baby for 9 months and feel it grow and develop inside her only to let it go as soon as it takes it first breath of life. Now I understand adoptions and choosing to give a baby to a family that can raise it properly when a mom may not be in a place to do so herself. As hard as that is, I can understand this decision. I can not seem to grasp though an understanding on why a woman would be willing get pregnant for a STRANGER for money and go through pregnancy by choice knowing she will have no relation to this baby later in life, genetically or emotionally. BIZARRE!!! However I can somewhat understand to do this for a family member or very close friend but a stranger blows me away. But honestly I still am trying to process this whole concept.
Then there is the other emotional weirdness that we experienced yesterday at the shower. I mean even down to the opening of gifts. The genetic mom-to-be and the rent a womb opened gifts together. Should they? They also reported to the group od shower attendees that they shopped for and decorated the nursery together. Again, Should they? I mean rent a womb will not be a part of this baby's life at all so...well it is just weird.

Then I started thinking about some other emotional issues. While I was pregnant we began a slow transition into parenthood well before Baby DIVA arrived. How? Well towards the end we had already begun the no sleepy dance. I was so uncomfortable and in turn I purposely made hubbs-to-be uncomfortable so he could "share" in my experience of being 60 pounds heavier, unable to lay comfortably, having of constant heartburn and peeing myself regularly because the babe squashed the bladder ALL the time. In a surrogacy the new mom and dad do not experience this at all. They see the rent a womb belly growing to full gigantic proportion but they do not interact with it daily. So as of now they are enjoying perfectly normal resting patterns and once the babe comes they will be jolted into reality. This emotional issue is relevant to many different aspects of the transition from pregnancy to parenthood.
While I am incredibly excited for the birth of this baby as well as grateful that my friend was able to find a willing rent a womb, the whole scenario has brought of lots of questions and deep thoughts for me. I am still pondering this miraculous medical marvel as I type this post. I wanted to just voice my crazy Pink Haired thoughts (even thought I have yet to decide my personal opinion or stand on this technique) on this interesting way of bringing life into this world.

Lower front left...it really is there!!!!

FINALLY!

Mother: Remove your nasty finger from My Mouth! YES I have a dang tooth!!

I guess that annoying serenade of creative breaking glass sounds from last night rounded out into something wonderful!!! Not to mention those days upon days here over the last month of bellowing bursts of Baby DIVA cries and rising temps which scared the pants right off this Pink Haired Momma!!

What is really cool is that we get to go through this wonderfully monumental torture for each and every tooth in Baby DIVA's mouth!!! Woohoo!!!

TOOFIE! TOOFIE! TO-OOFIE!!

And in other NEWS. Hubbs-to-be watched Baby DIVA alone last night while Pink Haired Momma worked.
This morning I found this!!!

Ummm what is this??? And the yellow will not come off her head. Hubbs-to-be turned Baby DIVA into the Golden Child!!!

Creative Sounds

Baby DIVA composed a new piece of music entitled "I never wanna sleep again". At approximately 12:30am last night, just as I settled into my slumber, the DIVA released this new artistic rendition of song. She serenaded the room just letting anyone within earshot take in the breaking glass type of sound of her voice for about 3 hours before settling down and going back to sleep. When creativity hits, you must let them express!!!

Indoor Play Lands ROCK!!!

Baby DIVA is getting out and about! We had our first official PLAY DATE today. Pink Haired Momma and Baby DIVA joined the ladies of HAM and the kiddos at a fabulous indoor play area and got goofy. The kiddos played and had a good old time. Baby DIVA watched as her new pal J-man crawled across the floor. She admired his leg movements so much that upon arrival to Great Great Granny's this evening Little Miss Baby DIVA attempted her first real crawl. She tried so hard but just could not quite get herself going as good as J-man! Unbelievable! Woohoo!!

Baby DIVA also had a wonderful time meeting Miss K-cutie who has the most gorgeous blue eyes!! The girls shared notes on sippy cups and came to the conclusion that PINK rocks! The babes tootled about the wonderful play area and laughed and giggled.

Baby DIVA and J-man
Whats up girl!

I agree K-cutie, Pink sippy cups ROCK!!!

Check out all the kids in this pic!!!
Super fun time!
Totally fabulous time. Great kids! Super wonderful ladies! If you wanna have fun like this you should check out the HAM site and see what exciting adventures are coming up next!!!

Baby DIVA scores the COB

As you know Baby DIVA has been eating solids now for 2 whole weeks! And of course not just any solids, she is eating food prepared by the master chef Pink Haired Momma prepared in the incredibly exotic way of puree in the blender!!

Her delicate gourmet palette has been exposed to only the finest preparations of the following:

PEAS: totally love the peas. Can't live without them. Must eat in mass quantity everyday!

AVOCADO: pretty cool. she enjoys this lovely fruit but most likes to squeeze it between her toes and use it to style her little wisps of a Mohawk.

BROCCOLI: so not happening. One bite gave and Pink Haired Momma an ugly face of disgust. Second bite was an even worse face that nearly threatened the bowl and hands of Pink Haired Momma. Third bite resulted in lips slammed shut and super tight. No spoon getting in there. Baby DIVA has silently spoken and stated broccoli is not an acceptable cuisine for her matured palette.
We now mix and hide this lovely veggie in her favorite peas. Oh the tricks you can play on the young and innocent!!

YELLOW SQUASH: Another favorite despite the despair of her grandpa who thinks squash should be banned from the planet.

OATMEAL: Baby DIVA can not stomach regular rice cereal ( DIVA here has a delicate tummy, Surprised?) so we use oatmeal as an alternate. She seems to dig this oaty delight!!

Over this last weekend, Hubbs-to-be got to grilling. We had some fabulous yum yum foods. And since we make all Baby DIVA's food for her because only we, Pink Haired Momma and Hubbs-to-be, have the skills and talents to puree in DIVA friendly style, the Hubbs-to-be prepared and presented Baby DIVA with her first taste of...
CORN ON THE COB!!

LOL! I am SOOOOOOO kidding. Baby DIVA did not get her toothless mouth any where near the cob! The pics are too funny though! No teeth equals no cob!! She was desperate to eat it though. One might have thought this baby never eats! No! No! Little Miss DIVA. In due time!!!

Tuesday Tidbit

Have you been searching for a fantasticly fabulous way to store your kiddo's goodies from the school year? U know so that the awesome masterpieces of art that the young ins bring home that take hours upon hours of very descriptive explanation to fully interpret what the image is, however still somehow manage to stroke the creative heart strings of every mommy. Usually they end up on the Fridge and after a while the fridge has so many masterpieces on it that no one can walk by, for fear of the attack from the thick wall of masterpieces.

You don't need any more clutter piling up either. I mean that giant pile of dust bunnies that have made a lovely nest over in corner is enough clutter this week. I just checked my nest and looks like my bunnies have some really cool new shiny accessories that adorn their wispy walls.

Anyway back to this storage idea. I was taking a much needed break and reading an awesome mom magazine (and yes it is true this moment was on the pot, because you know that is the only time I get free and alone these days) when I happened upon this fabulous idea to preserve each school year. I thought this week more than ever would be a great time to share this tidbit because school is ending for the year.

This mom wrote in to the magazine and said that she takes a picture of her kiddo on the first day of school and the last day of school. She then places these pics in the child's backpack he used from the school year. Along with several of his favorite masterpieces and mementos of the year. The she saves the backpack full of the chosen goodies for kiddo to look back on anytime he wants. Memories preserved without taking up too much time space and energy!

Totally Fabulous!

How cool is that!!! Easy to store and hide away!

I am so loving this idea. I think I will be implementing this with Baby DIVA. Once we grow out of her Super fun diaper bag, I will be turning her bag into her first saved memory bag. I will put all my favorite little outfits and goodies in here as well as a small scrapbook of pics from the time period we use the diaper bag. Maybe even favorite toys from this period too. And I might also write a little letter to her from me and tell her cool stories from this time period too. Then we she looks back over the years she not only can see the goodies and pics but will have a written memory from Pink Haired Momma!!

The ideas that can come from this tidbit are limitless. Use your imagination with the storage bags and time periods and provide the little ones with a nifty way to reminisce their growing years!!

Laughing at life

Since the Pink Haired Momma was LAID OFF from her totally chic at home gig of a career; this week laughing at life will honor this grand ideal that many Americans are facing each and every day in our sour economy. Enjoy the silly video and pictures! Have a good laugh! And remember despite not having a job, Pink Haired Momma will return next week with a new and improved laughing at life theme!!

Craptastic Hormones

I strongly believe that all those craptastic parenting classes all us new parents took and will take that engage us in the superb fun loving exercises about how to put a diaper on a baby butt or how to bathe the baby (blah blah blah) are just a serious waste of time and energy, not to mention dough. I am a new mom. YES. However, most of the classes that we unload a craptastic amount of dough on to teach us "How to raise" our children all just bull, I have learned. We end up not doing anything the way the teacher taught us and still feeling like complete and total idiots who do not have a clue, and guess what??

MY KID IS STILL ALIVE, and doing quite well I might add.

Now the classes that should be offered and we should unload our dough on in the pre birth stage, are those classes in which we learn how to not be a psycho mommy who goes ballistic on poor psycho daddy. How to not loose your mind and scream at the kitchen sink drain and Hubbs-to-be because the dishes are in the wrong side of the sink. How to cope with the daily illusion that you are a super mom and can do it all and somehow still be the "before baby" you too. WHATEVER!!!

Yes Folks Pink Haired Momma had a craptastic mental disturbance this weekend! A full out throw down with the kitchen sink and poor Hubbs-to-be got caught in the crossfire. I tell you what! No matter how much you read, learn, ask, smell, taste, touch whatever; nothing can prepare you for how hard parenthood is. Take a screaming non sleeping teething just got my shots DIVA of a babe known to the world as Baby DIVA and couple that with the loony toons Pink Haired Momma who is exhausted from not sleeping and a little stressed out at the recent loss of job and what to you get. Hubbs-to-be crouching quietly in the corner wishing the women in his life would silently disappear!!

YEA!! for sleep deprivation and heavy hormones!!

And I thank my lucky Pink Stars My loving Hubbs-to-be loves me and my crazy wicked ways!!!
